Paper Plane Workshop

A creative icebreaker where students engage in a simple yet interactive activity to kick off the program and build camaraderie. Students will be divided into their teams for the pitch competition and will be introduced to their respective coaches who will guide and mentor them over the course of the week.

Pizza Night: The ICSB tradition is to follow the paper plane workshop with a pizza night for students, coaches and other participants! Spend social time getting to know your teammates and other participants.

Options include a visit to the Powerhouse Museum which is considered a hub for science, technology and design: or a visit to the Rocks which is a historic area close to Sydney Harbour and features markets, art galleries, Australia's oldest pub and possibly a night ghost tour.

War on Waste: Tackling Microplastics and Other Waste

In this workshop students will explore the topics of:
1. Understanding waste, including the environmental impact of our consumption habits.
2. Reducing, reusing, recycling, which includes practical strategies to minimise waste production.
3. Innovative solutions, inspired by case studies to help brainstorm solutions to implement on campus and in society.

Innovate for a Sustainable Future: Bridging Technology and Entrepreneurship – A sustainable hackathon.

In this workshop students will explore the topics of:
1. Understanding sustainability, including critical issues such as climate change, resource depletion and social equity.
2. Creative problem-solving involving out-of-the-box thinking.
3. Cutting-edge technologies and practices that promote sustainability and involve hands-on design thinking.

Site Visit | War on Waste

Site visit to a micro-plastics factory at the University of NSW (UNSW). UNSW is internationally renowned for its research quality and impact in areas such as public health, climate science and human rights. UNSW developed the world’s first hydrogen battery and is transforming waste plastic into steel.

Welcome reception to be held at the Overseas Passenger Terminal on Sydney Harbour. Join us for the opportunity to mix and exchange ideas and experiences with local students, who will provide an insiders guide to their favourite Sydney locations.

Attend World Congress at the Hyatt Regency and hear from experts in research, education, business, policy and practice. Interact and engage with Congress participants from across industry sectors and backgrounds. Session topics include circularity, blue/ ocean economy, financing sustainability, ecosystem governance and boosting entrepreneurship.
